A nomad in North Wales.

After years of living in stinky cities, sweaty jungles, and a surfy island, I came to Criccieth, North Wales, in 2017.

I knew I’d stay a while, so I fulfilled a lifelong dream and opened an online shop selling artisan gifts and homewares.

I named it Firain, an Ancient Welsh word meaning something close to ‘good, noble, fair and fine.’

In 2020, I closed the shop and now support thoughtful, creative shopkeepers like you by hosting group workshops and working with you one-to-one.

At the end of 2023, I gently said bye to the Firain brand and now use my very own name to market my services.

A wanderer, and a wonderer.

Don’t test me on actual onions. I know I like red ones. On a pizza.

But when it comes to the steps needed to plan, open, and grow a creative business of one, I do know about that.

I work hard to create a relaxed, confidential space where you can share the daring dreams and frustrating blocks you’re navigating in your business. Of course, sometimes we have to hustle and get things done, but my style is respectful, not dogmatic or pushy.

Getting the best support from the most qualified, experienced mentors is also essential. At times, I recommend others from my book of brilliant contacts. Your business growth is most important to me.

“She knows her onions” is what they say.

I keep things simple.

Here’s how you can say hello.

A focused and straightforward approach is often best, so I offer a few ways to work with me. I hope this removes some decision fatigue when looking for a mentor/ coach/ business buddy.

My pricing is transparent, my contracts are in plain English*, and I aim to make working with me as easy and impactful as possible.

* I can arrange to translate contracts and notes into other languages, including Cymraeg, Spanish, ASL, and BSL.

Email me at jogriffinmccarthy@gmail.com. I check my inbox daily, although I can be slow to respond as I focus on clients.

I’m in a phase of using Instagram and other social platforms as a magpie-like consumer, a visual wonderer, and a wanderer, but not as a creator. This means I’m not consciously creating social media content right now.

It’s an experiment, that’s all!

The other way to keep in touch is via my mailing list… I call it The Garden Shed because I share marketing tools and I like working with plants, and thinking about growth in all aspects of life and business.
